Not really. In the novel its in Hampshire, about thirty miles north of Portsmouth, but then there's quite a marked difference between RCH's original and the screenplay, not least that the Sam of the film is actually Gerald Mansfield in the book.

The only location I'm sure of is Raven's plush abode in The Shadmock: Knebworth House in Herts.

Thanks to Smudge at the Brit Movie Forum, we've now located Loughville! It's at Aldenham Park, Elstree, Hertfordshire and the bridge that Sam and Luna flee across is Tykes Water Lake Bridge, familiar from several sixties and seventies horror movies including Taste The Blood Of Dracula, Dracula AD 1972, Fear In The Night, Dr. Terror's House Of Horrors and The Abominable Dr. Phibes.

Are these locations available to the public and are they easily recognisable?? Also, does anyone know where the indoor scenes were filmed? Such as the actual Monster Club, the Shadmock's mansion, the Vampire's house? Or were they filmed in a studio? I'd love to know, and possibly visit some of these places.

I'm pretty sure Aldenham Park is open to the public - it should be easy to find out. The Shadmock's mansion stands in Knebworth Park. Author Michel Parry, a friend of Milton's (and Chetwynd-Hayes') who was present at much of the filming, told me that sadly there wasn't any club, it was just a set. Not sure about the Vampire's place although Windsor seems to have been popular with Amicus for location shooting.

Thanks a lot! Your information is much appreciated. That is a shame about there never being an actual club. Do you know if the indoor scenes for the Shadmock story were filmed at Knebworth park or if it was just the outdoors which were used for filming?

I can update this post with the location of the house used in the vampire hunters episode, the house is located in Hadley near High Barnet Tube station in Hertfordshire, I walk past it everyday and have a couple of recent photos. The exact address is : 1 The Crescent, Hadley. Barnet EN5 5QQ
This house was used for the exterior shots only as far as I know and has changed very little since. I will post some recent pictures on this thread.

Thanks Alan. As you can see, this forum has long been neglected with most of posts incorporated into the Vault of Evil forum. It would be lovely to see the photo's. is the 'Add attachment' feature not working? Am currently struggling with a woefully erratic computer, but will write you during the week.
